“It is the potential for multiple alternatives
and variations that so captivates me about the printmaking art form.
Once I have created the plate I can try numerous inking variations
and papers often changing the mood even the time of day by how the
plate is inked.”
Anchored by close realistic observation, I modify pattern and
shape to enhance and explore my subject. I love experimenting with
diffused light and deeply shadowed forms to create spatial drama,
mystery and visual rhythm in my work. Permanence and Growing Things
are a recurring theme in my work. I purposely make windows dark,
people and objects vague, wanting the viewer to become their own
storyteller.
My goal is to continue to grow as an artist, to fully explore
each idea and image as I utilize the flexibility and versatility
inherent in the intaglio medium." |
