| Hard
to believe it is 2010. I celebrated a wonderful holiday
season surrounded by family and friends enjoying the
wintry sparkle of white - the first major snow came
early to New England!
Snug and warm in my studio, I continue to craft more
floral mixed media prints as well as work on a new
series of unique artist books for a 3-person show
scheduled for this June at the Providence Art Club.
I am letting my imagination run wild in form, materials,
and content of these new books. Keep checking my web
site, as I will start posting images in the next few
months. I am surprising even myself!
With much fanfare “Travel” – the
Printmakers Network of Southern New England (PNSNE)
3-book collection of original prints and poems was
completed this fall. Working on this project with
14 other printmakers and 3 poets over the last 3 years
has been a wonderful experience for me. The project
debuted at Fairfield University in October with a
2-day symposium exploring the components of collaboration.
Fairfield University, the Dodd Center Special Collections,
University of Connecticut, and Wheaton College in
Massachusetts have purchased the Travel Collection.
There are still a few collections available for purchase
priced at $3000 - if interested go to: www.printmakersnetwork.org.

I am pleased to report my first mixed
media print inspired by lotus flowers won the Giulia
Palermo Memorial Award in Graphics at the Audubon
Artists Inc. Annual Exhibition, Salmagundi Club in
New York City. “Every Petal,” my first
concertina star book was accepted in the 2010 Newport
Art Museum Juried Annual and will be on exhibit through
May 24, 2010. With more in production, I am hoping
to have at least 15 new floral prints ready for “The
Ties That Bind” exhibit at the Providence Art
Club, 11 Thomas St., Providence, Rhode Island, June13
– July 2, 2010. We are having a special evening
reception free to the public on Friday, June 18th
from 6-8 pm in the Maxwell Mays Gallery.
I also have work heading for an exhibit outside the
states again this year - my whimsical print “Walkabout”
will be at FyreGallery in Australia in the 77th Juried
Members’ Exhibition “Bridge: SAGA Goes
Down Under” from March 26 – May 10, 2010.
Another of my solar plate prints, “Dog Day Afternoon,”
will be on exhibit in thINK, a Boston Printmakers
Members’ Exhibit that will travel to different
venues over the next few years. For more information
on the thINK Exhibit check for postings on the Boston
Printmakers website.
Also look for my prints and book art in 100 New England
Artists complied by Ashley E. Rooney - scheduled for
a 2010 release by Schiffer Publishing.
Stay safe and come again…I always enjoy hearing
from visitors to my site. – Carol
